The Henderson Municipal Court, Marshal Service has teamed up with Special Olympics Nevada in a fundraising campaign, known as the Law Enforcement Torch Run®.

Special Olympics Nevada provides year-round sports training and competition by participating in sports, physical fitness, and healthcare programs. Special Olympics athletes develop an increased sense of self-confidence, social skills, improved mobility, and motor skills. This gives Special Olympic athletes greater success in leading more productive and independent lives.

In Henderson alone there are over 400 Special Olympics athletes currently involved in sports-training, competitions, and school-based programs. The Marshal Division has pledged to raise the bar each year, raise the level of public awareness, and to raise more donations than the year before.

We hope anyone who visits this site will have a desire to support us in our mission to raise awareness for the more than 4,000 athletes residing in the state. We want everyone who visits our site to Be a Fan™ of Special Olympics Nevada. As guardians of the Special Olympics Flame of Hope, the HMC Marshal Division has made a commitment to those who need our help. We cannot do it without the assistance of the community we work to protect and serve. Please, I ask you to consider donating to the Law Enforcement Torch Run® campaign. It costs an average of $250 per-season for an individual athlete to train and compete at the local and state levels.

One primary means of fundraising come through a promotion called “Tip-a-Cop” where several times a year dedicated members of the law enforcement community from around the state trade in their handcuffs for menus and serving trays. The HMC Marshal Service has a great time at these events; we roll up our sleeves and set aside our caseload of warrants to help raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. Tip-a-Cop gives the public a chance to see law enforcement personnel in a whole new light and gives new meaning to “protect and serve.”

If you wish to help, please feel free to contact me at the address, phone number, or email address provided on the contact page. Special Olympics is a 501c3 non-profit organization and any donation provided may be considered tax deductible. All checks should be made payable to “Special Olympics Nevada.”

Thank you on behalf of the Henderson Municipal Court, Marshal Service and Nevada’s Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics.

Sincerely,

Henderson Municipal Court Marshal Service
