The Tip -A- Cop® Mission
The goal of the Tip-a-Cop® program is to collect as many donations as possible for Special Olympics Nevada through “tips.” Tip-A-Cop® is a Law Enforcement Torch Run® fundraising event in which law enforcement officers assist with waiting tables at a restaurant and collect “tip” donations. Law Enforcement personnel from around the state trade in their handcuffs for menus and serving trays. The Marshal Division in particular recruits as many friends and family members as possible to come out to the restaurants on the designated day and give the biggest tips they possibly could. During the Marshal’s scheduled time to wait on customers, a lot of Marshals get so competitive that we sing, joke or dance for the customers just to get a bigger tip. Some Marshals really “ham” it up to fully entertain the customer.
